
Brian D. Harrison was appointed by the President as the Acting Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on August 12, 2025. In this role, Mr. Harrison provides executive leadership to more than 445 special agents, investigative support professionals, auditors, evaluators, attorneys, data analysts, and management professionals responsible for combatting fraud, waste, and abuse, and promoting effectiveness and efficiency in HUD’s programs and operations.
Mr. Harrison has more than twenty-six years of military and federal law enforcement experience including progressive leadership roles in three different federal Offices of Inspector General, most recently serving concurrently as the Acting Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Investigations and as a Special Agent-in-Charge for HUD OIG. During his career, Mr. Harrison served for more than five years as a federal prosecutor, first for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, and later in the Alexandria Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Mr. Harrison earned a Juris Doctor with a Concentration in Criminal Practice from Baylor University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from American Military University. Mr. Harrison holds professional certifications as a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist. Mr. Harrison is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
