Danita Wade has served with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Office of Inspector General (OIG) since 1999, and most recently held the role of Disaster Recovery Division’s Audit Director in the Fort Worth, Texas office. In this role, she oversaw audit oversight responsibility for HUD’s $109 billion disaster recovery program, where she managed four audit teams with staff located throughout the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico offices.
Throughout her distinguished career with HUD OIG, Danita has led and contributed to auditing expertise involving the Offices of Community Planning and Development; Single Family Housing; Multifamily Housing; and Public and Indian Housing. She also devoted several years serving on the National-Association-of-State-Boards-of-Accountancy-certified teaching team.
Danita began her HUD OIG career as Auditor of the Year-Trainee and has received numerous awards and recognition throughout her career, including recognition from the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney General (then-nominee), the HUD Secretary, the Council of Inspectors General for Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE), and HUD OIG. Most recently, she served as a CIGIE Fellow with AmeriCorps OIG, where she developed and published the agency’s first strategic plan.
Danita earned an accounting degree from Dallas Baptist University and is a U.S. Army veteran. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) bringing decades of federal oversight, audit, compliance, and leadership experience to her work in public service.
